Student Ambassador Seeking Assistance

Hi, my name is Tabitha and I am sixth grader in Southern California. I am very proud to be a People to People Student Ambassador representing the United States of America to people around the world.
As a Student Ambassador last year I had the great honor to visit Australia and represent my country meeting Australians from all walks of life. Because of my activities in Australia I have been nominated again this year to go to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and teach other people about the United States and learn the cultures of their countries. If you would like to know more about the People to People organization please click on this link www.studentambassador.com . It is a wonderful organization founded by President Dwight Eisenhower. He founded the organization to educate the children of the United States about countries and cultures, educate other people of the world about the United States and promote the message of world peace. The President of the United States, George W. Bush, is our honorary chairman this year. If you would like to learn more about President Eisenhower I found this really good website: www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/de34.html
As a Student Ambassador I am expected to raise a large portion of the funds necessary for my trip. Last year in order to earn these fund I did yard care, helped younger kids learn to use the computer, washed cars, collected recyclables for redemption, did miscellaneous chores for neighbors and with several other Student Ambassadors compiled an Australian cookbook that we used to raise funds. With all my effort and hard work I still fell short of my goal. This year, in addition to working to raise funds, I am seeking the support of sponsors to help me reach my goal. I am very proud and honored to represent my great country as a Student Ambassador and I can't wait to visit other countries to experience their cultures and teach them about America. I am asking anyone who would like to be a sponsor and thinks 'People to People' is a worthwhile cause for a student like me to please send just $1 to help me reach my fund goals. If you send me your email address I promise to send a thank you note. If you are able to send $3 or more I will send a hand written thank you note if you provide me with an address where I can send it. Thank you so much for visiting my site and your consideration in helping me to be a Student Ambassador for our great country. All sponsorship donations should be sent to the following address:

Checks can be made out to 'People to People' and you can reference my delegate id which is: 715626

First Impressions

We had our first out of 6 class meetings last Sunday. Part of the People to People learning experience is to meet each month for 2 to 3 hours and learn about our own country as well as the new countries we are going to travel to. It also helps all the kids get to know each other so that when we are all away together we kind of know each others personalities. One of the first things we learned last year before the Australia trip was that First Impressions are lasting ones. I think I made a good impression on all my new friends at the meeting. I was asked to get up and tell everyone about my experience at Australia. It is a little nerve wracking to get up and speak in front of people but by the time you are done you realize it isn't so bad. I made one new friend that lives in the same town I live in. I think we will get along good on the trip.

We learned a little more about Eisenhower during the class. He thought that if people would come into each others homes, attend their schools, places or worship, watch how meals are prepared and children reared that appreciation and tolerance for our global neighbors would be created. It was his dream to have people realize for themselves that while we are all very different, our values, goals, and desire for life are very much the same. I think he was right and I still have trouble understanding why people hate others just because of the color of their skin or their nationality. It is all about that first impression, we should never judge someone until we give them a chance to make that first impression.

Just to keep you up to date on my progress for raising money, mom and dad put in the first $500 so I am 1/8 of the way there. I might be a little further along because a couple of Mom's friends are sending me their sponsorship and trying to help me out. Dogs are wonderful

This is Ashley, my dog. Well, she is really my sisters dog but I pay the most attention to her. She is a really great dog. I can get her to do a few tricks but most of all I love to just hug her and have her watch TV with me. I really hope to be a veterinarian some day so that I can help dogs and other animals stay well.
